The One That Almost Got Away

I saw this dress online on both Modcloth and Ruche. I kind of stalked it. It even made its way in to my cart but I never managed to pull the trigger. Then it sold out. And I was sad.

Luckily, I stumbled across it again, this time in person, while Leather Peacock and I were in Bryson City, NC at the Humanité boutique. The dress was now stalking me. So I succumbed. Gladly. It is the perfect little corporate dress but with a funky print that I really dig.

Dress: Humanité
Shoes: Merona at Target (Not to brag but only $7 on the clearance rack!)
Cardigan: Forever 21

Fall Has Finally... Fallen?!?

Today was the first day where it actually felt like Fall. Sadly, I live in a pine tree infested area so my attempt at a backyard photo shoot while frolicking in the leaves was stymied. My yard was littered with a bunch of pine needles and cones and maybe 15 leaves.

Blouse: Forever 21
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Nine West

Warm colors for a cool day
Inspiration: Fall Day at Ivy League school. A girl can dream...

I see a dye job in my future. My roots are ridiculous and nobody is buying it when I say I am going for the ombre hair effect.

Comfy loafers
Tie collared blouses used to remind me of the movie Nine to Five but I am starting to come around.

Familiar Spirit

All day I kept looking at my dress wondering who or what I looked like...

Then it hit me! He didn't wear a dress but the stripe pattern and colors are very, very similar.

Dress (mine not Freddy Krueger's): Modcloth
Shoes: Nine West

Partly Cloudy With A Chance Of Sunshine

This outfit really reflected the weather on Friday. Patchy clouds and rain with intermittent sunshine. I love mixing yellow and grey so perfect.

Sweater: GAP outlet
Yellow cami underneath: Forever 21
Pants: NY & Company
Quilted shoes: Target

Like the weather, I have a mixture of good and bad news.

Good news: I got a new camera so pictures are much clearer. I can quit relying on my crappy phone camera for this blog.

Bad news: I think I need to clean the mirror in my bedroom. The new camera may take clearer pictures but it also clearly shows the smudges on the mirror.

My Dirty Little (Shopping) Secret

I shop at Rugged Wearhouse. There... I said it! Don't know what that is? Check out their website here but for those not blessed with a Rugged Warehouse let's just say it is like a very unorganized Ross or Marshall's with way cheaper prices. Ours is in a bad part of town. And then there is that name itself. Upon pulling up in the parking lot, I thought it sounded like somewhere my husband would buy his Realtree camo pants or blaze orange hats for hunting. But if you can get past all of that and are willing to dig through the clutter, the place is actually a gem. They carry Ann Taylor, Express, NY & Company, Fossil, Dollhouse and Anthropologie (although the rack with those is mislabeled Anthropology... smirk!) for rock bottom prices.

Today's outfit is an ode to Rugged Wearhouse. I got the pants there (NY & Company) for $12. The shoes are Twisted brand and they set me back a whopping $6.

Top is from NY & Company and can be found here.

Other recent Rugged Wearhouse finds:

Hobo bag by Dollhouse for $12.99

Black and grey striped tunic sweater $7.99

Bag $12.99

Gauzy beach coverup for $9.99 (just in time for next month's trip to Jamaica!)

Good Luck Charm

I probably won't post tons of pics with work outfits (let's face it... work clothes are kind of boring, especially in my line of work) but I knocked a presentation out of the park today wearing this so I consider this me good luck charm. Of course, there is green involved. This Irish-American would have it no other way.

Cardigan is Merona from Target (old)
Dress from Modcloth (old)
Shoes are Comfort Plus by Predictions from Payless. (If you are in the market for cheap but comfortable heels, your search should end there. I was on my feet giving a presentation for several hours and wasn't hobbled. I have the round toe 3 inch version but you can find the pointed toe 2 inch version here.)
